A super network is a social topology consisting of one originating node and an open-ended set of peripheral nodes, each connected to the centre and, in the idealized case, to one another. The term was coined by Robert Vasquez, who describes its construction as his long-term goal.[1]

In its originating formulation the network is composed of “bad bitches who are freaks.” Vasquez has declined to define either term further, on the grounds that the meaning is evident and that he was not going to say it out loud. RobPedia has honoured this.[1]

Idealized topology. Centre: originating node. Periphery: unassigned.

[edit]Status

Asked directly whether the super network is a genuine project or a joke, Vasquez gave the only answer on record: half real, half a bit, lowkey real.[1] This is now the status field in the infobox of this article and is not expected to change.

The phrasing is more precise than it first appears. It concedes the project is partly a performance, declines to specify which part, and then quietly asserts that the remainder is sincere.

[edit]Structure

Three properties are implied by the formulation:

  1. Single origin. Every edge traces back to one node.
  2. Peripheral interconnection. Peripheral nodes are expected to connect to each other, not only to the centre.
  3. Selection over scale. The network optimizes for node quality, not node count.

Property three is consistent with the subject's documented refusal to use social media, a medium organized around the opposite priority.[1]

[edit]Relation to the one-to-one aim

The super network is the collective form of a much older and much simpler stated goal: on a one-to-one level, feel something — tension, passion. Read alongside the book he credits with his worldview, in which a society sedates its members precisely so they will not feel those things, the network reads less as a numbers exercise and more as the opposite of a sedative.[2]

On a 1-on-1 level: feel something. Tension. Passion.

[edit]Criticism

The principal criticism is that the network currently has one confirmed member. The subject's position is that this is true of every network at initialization.[1]
