This article covers the early life of Robert Vasquez. For his adult work, see Robert Vasquez § Career.
The early life of Robert Vasquez spans his birth in Miami in 2002 through his departure from the city in 2024. He lived in Miami for the entirety of that period — not most of it, all of it — before moving to Winter Garden, where he has been ever since.[1]
[edit]Family
His grandparents are Cuban and Puerto Rican. He has described the resulting position as “too white to be Hispanic, too Hispanic to be white,” a formulation he delivers without pausing for reaction.[1]
He has two younger brothers; the elder, now twelve, remains his regular Team Fortress 2 partner. His father, now fifty-seven, plays Age of Empires II with him and is competitive at it. The household also includes a dog, Spartacus.[1]
[edit]The gym
Main article: Bench press
At the end of fifth grade his father began taking him along to the CrossFit gym he attended. Vasquez did basic weightlifting and push-ups. By his own account it never really left him, and he grew more serious about it over time.[1] The habit has now run continuously for roughly fourteen years, making it the longest unbroken commitment documented anywhere in this encyclopedia.
[edit]Reading
Main article: The Giver
At twelve he read The Giver. What registered was not the plot but the mechanism: a society that stays calm because feeling has been removed from its members chemically.[2] He credits the book with shaping his political views and his perspective on society, and has not named a second book since.
[edit]Education
Vasquez entered Florida International University with almost sixty credits already earned through AP and IB coursework and graduated in 2023, roughly two years ahead of schedule, studying finance and information systems.[1]
Within that same compressed window he was elected president of his fraternity and took one class of Mandarin, progressing from no knowledge of the language to a three-minute spoken presentation about himself and his family. He took no further Mandarin coursework.[1]

[edit]Move
He left Miami for Winter Garden in 2024 and has been there roughly two years. It remains the only place he has lived that is not Miami.[1]
